Dr. Richard A. Larsen of JASCO Becomes New Chair of American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) International Committee on Molecular Spectroscopy and Separation Science

EASTON, Md. 06 April 2006 – Richard A. Larsen, Ph.D., scientific applications manager for JASCO in Easton, Md., now leads ASTM Committee E13 on Molecular Spectroscopy and Separation Science as its chairman. The committee includes more than 150 members who are responsible for almost 50 standards published in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards.

An ASTM International member since 1994, Larsen is also vice-chairman of Subcommittee E13.03 on Infrared and Near Infrared Spectroscopy and a member of Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants. Outside ASTM International, Larsen is a member of the American Chemical Society, The Coblentz Society, the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, Sigma Xi, and the Society for Applied Spectroscopy.

ASTM Committee E13 on Molecular Spectroscopy and Separation Science is one of the 138 technical standards writing committees. Established in 1898, ASTM International is one of the largest standards development and delivery systems in the world.  ASTM standards are accepted and used in research and development, product testing, quality systems, and commercial transactions around the globe.
